For the first five years of its life the Yoga Village UK website relied
heavily upon voluntary work, and any direct costs were covered by
advertising fees and the bookshop. Due to the success of the website and
its continued growth administration costs are also growing. We are at the
stage now where we need to pay people to work on the site to keep it running
efficiently. Some ‘refurbishment’ is also needed. All this costs
money.
In order to support the continued growth of the site, from August 2006 we
are asking all yoga teachers listed for a voluntary annual subscription of
£35. Whether you choose to pay or not will not affect your listing
appearing in the directory.
To pay or not to pay?
Please note that this contribution is voluntary. We wish to continue our
yogic ethos and to remain inclusive. Yoga teachers who cannot afford to pay
will remain in the directory.
We know from the feedback we receive that many
teachers benefit financially from their listings on the website, by
obtaining new paying students. Many have also asked if they can give a
donation towards the work of the website. Now is your chance!
Most yoga students pay around £50 for a term of classes, about £150 per
year, so just one new student more than covers the small fee of £35 that we
are asking. The annual subscription is comparable to the cost of a small ad
in a local paper, which appears only once and then tends to be thrown away.
Remember that your listing is accessible online 24/7 for a whole year.
