Looking for a yoga teacher?

For a specific search for a particular yoga teacher, town, region, or type of yoga, type the name or words you are searching for into the website search box on the home page.  This will search the website for you, including the teachers' directory.

For a more general search follow these steps:

  1. On the Yoga Village UK Teachers page select a region from the list and have a look at the teachers listed there.  (Don't forget neighbouring counties, if you live near to the border.)

  2. Contact The British Wheel of Yoga (Tel: 01529 306851)  They are the Governing Body for yoga in the UK and will be able to give you details of teachers with recognised qualifications in your area.

  3. If you are looking for a teacher of a particular tradition of yoga, type the name of the style of yoga into the website search box on the home page, or contact the relevant organisation

  4. Try posting a query on the Yoga Village UK Discussion Forum.  There may be someone out there who may be able to help.

When contacting a yoga teacher, remember:

  • Any good yoga teacher will not mind being asked about qualifications, experience or insurance.

  • Ask about fees - they vary widely.  Some teachers run classes on a 'pay as you come' basis, but many require that you book for a series of lessons.  Sometimes, however, teachers will let you come to one lesson on a 'try out' basis before committing to a course.  Some classes are run through the Local Education Authority.

  • If you are a beginner, ask the teacher whether the class you would like to attend would be suitable for you.
  • If you have any medical conditions or are pregnant, do discuss this with any yoga teacher whose class you are going to attend, as well as your doctor.

  • Different teachers have different approaches to teaching yoga.  If you don't get on with one teacher's style, don't be put off - do try another.
