How do I choose a website designer?
It is important that you find a website designer who (a) designs websites in a style you like and (b) who is providing the level of follow-up service that you need for your business. Some helpful hints:
- have a look at the website designer's own website to see what is being offered and if it is the kind of thing you are after
- price is obviously important, but check what you are actually getting for your money: Are you paying extra for things you don't really need? Are there any hidden extras that you will have to pay later?
- find out what kind of service you will receive once the website is on the internet: Will updates be added promptly? How much will be charged for updates? What if you want to expand your site later?
- don't get bamboozled by technical jargon - always ask for an explanation of anything you don't understand
- ask your friends and colleagues who they have used and what kind of service they received for their money - there are many different levels of service available
- try emailing the owner of a website which is designed and/or managed by the designer you are interested in, for a reference - web addresses should be listed on the designer's website - ours are here
