PRACTICAL APPLIED ANATOMY WORKSHOPS FOR YOGA TEACHERS ONLINE
Anatomy-based cueing for safe yoga practice
Sat 11 July 2026, 10am-1pm
When students move differently
know what to notice - and how to respond
Perhaps you notice that individuals are navigating a supported standing forward bend (ardha uttanasana) in different ways.
What do you see in the picture below?

Do you notice differences in leg use?
Do you observe different available movement in shoulder joints?
Which cues could you give that would help the whole group refine their pose?
Which students, if any, would you give individual coaching to?
If questions like these feel familiar, this workshop is for you.
Together, we’ll explore how understanding functional anatomy can help you make sense of what you’re actually seeing in class, so you can give targeted cues to support safer movement and to help individuals with different bodies to refine their practice.
You already know more anatomy than you think
Most yoga teacher training includes anatomy - but many teachers go on to discover that understanding anatomy in theory is very different from applying it in a mixed-ability class.
These two workshops are designed to help bridge that gap.

We’ll explore anatomical variation, and how this understanding can help you give clearer cues both to a whole class and to individual students.
These two workshops build on the approach I use in my Essential Anatomy & Physiology for Yoga Teaching online course. This course is approved by the British Wheel of Yoga and some of you may have used as a prerequisite for your teacher training programme. It is also suitable for practising yoga teachers to broaden your understanding of holistic anatomy and how the body works.

What you'll gain
By the end of the workshop you'll have more clarity about:
-
How we can respond to what we see anatomically in class
-
Why different students express the same pose differently and require different guidance
-
Adapting cues for different bodies without overcomplicating your teaching
-
Different types of anatomy-informed cues for mixed ability class teaching
Is this workshop for me?
This workshop may be especially helpful if you:
- Know some anatomy but are unsure how to apply it in teaching
- Sometimes wonder how much to adapt, refine, reassure or leave alone
- Feel uncertain about what creates more anatomical integrity and stability in movement
- Have general questions or specific questions about your students
- If you have completed the Essential Anatomy & Physiology for Yoga Teaching online course, this workshop will help you bridge the gap between theory and practical teaching
